Come on, England!

• The busload of English tourists had piled into a local hostelry to cheer on their team in their opening game. Many of the locals, sporting Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United/City shirts were, however, cheering for France. At halftime, one bemused visitor asked why. The reply confused him even more: "Ah, we support the clubs, but not the national team."

He persisted in asking, is there any occasion a Waterford person would support the England team. Now, he was even more confused by the response: Oh yeah, we would boy . . . if they were playing Kilkenny in the All-Ireland!
