Collateral damage

•It is wrong of us in the West to concentrate our commemorative energy on the murders of 3,000 people in the 9/11 terror attacks while we never commemorate the tens of thousands of innocent dead in the bazaars and streets of Baghdad, Basra and other Iraqi cities?

We caused the deaths of these civilians through our acquiescence in the invasion and war instigated by Tony Blair and George Bush.

The Irish people elected public representatives who, with a few honourable exceptions, made no hue and cry about the mass murders in the Iraq invasion by the British and American governments. We as a nation made no objection either.
