Closing nuclear plants is act of stupidity

In response to Japan's Fukushima nuclear disaster, Britain has decided to close the Sellafield MOX plant, and Germany has decided to phase out nuclear power altogether, from which it produces 25pc of its electricity.
It seems to have escaped their notice that Japan is in an area of very high seismic activity (4.3), whereas Britain and Germany are in areas of very low seismic activity (0.2).
The earthquake and tsunami killed several thousand and was responsible for the meltdown, but so far there have been no deaths recorded due to radiation, although two have been killed and several injured in making the reactor safe.
