Clearing the mist in the debate over foglights

WITH regard to the debate over foglights, it is quite simple: foglights are called foglights because they are designed to be used in fog.

This means that, unlike dipped headlights, the light shines everywhere. When there is no fog, they blind oncoming drivers.

If you use them inappropriately in the UK or on the continent you will be fined. If you use them inappropriately in this country you should be fined.
