Church role in schools

Sir --As a principal of a school under the patronage of the Catholic Church in Donegal, I wish to object to the continuous media-driven campaign of your paper against the presence of the church in our schools.
I have been a principal of a small school for years and I have only experienced respect and support from the chairperson of our board. The audacity of Emer O'Kelly (Sunday Independent, January 31) to attempt to include all ordained and professed members of the church under the banner of "abusers". I dread the day when our chairperson retires and hands over to a lay chairperson.
