Cheap shots at the British unnecessary

IN John Mulligan's article on the takeover of Superquinn (Irish Independent, July 25), there was a line which makes reference "to a takeover by the dastardly British rivals".
Even if this was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek remark, it is a cheap shot at the Brits.
I would like to point out to Mr Mulligan that if a "British rival" had taken over Superquinn all the jobs would be saved, Superquinn would still be operating as a going concern and this excellent supermarket would still be a household name on the high street.
