Charity comes from the heart

With Six Nations season upon us, I would like to make one observation, if I may.

For every Liam Carroll and Bernard McNamara in Ireland, there was a wife and an extended family and friends who were living the high life on the back of their respective plastic kings.

For every down and out who couldn't afford to buy a sandwich, there was a foolish Brown Thomas shopper who was willing to pay three times the price for a pair of socks, just so they could walk down Grafton Street with their trophy bag.
