Charity at what cost?

Madam -- As one who has contributed to nearly every charitable organisation over the years whenever asked and when I was able, I was really upset recently to realise the extent of the salaries received by the executives of said organisations.

Week after week, begging letters are dropped through my letterbox from various charities. The letters are signed by executives of said charities looking for donations of €20, €30, €40, €50 and so on.

I have given much over the years out of a widower's pension and was happy to do so to help. Now I am having second thoughts about it all. Why should people on huge salaries ask me for money? Why not send half their salary themselves, which they can well afford?
