Carol’s talent will be welcome in UK
REGARDING Carol’s plight (‘Today, I am getting ready to emigrate’, Letters, August 7), I and many other Irish abroad will sympathise with her dilemma.
She could, though, do no better than come to Birmingham, like many a fine Mayo man and woman before her. She obviously has talent, ambition and determination and we welcome that here – in a welcoming, tolerant, convivial and cosmopolitan city with huge Irish interests and connections.
As for the callous, offensive and patronising comments of Mr O’Maonaigh in response to the honest and vulnerable account, I would advise him to return to the dark confines of his cave in ‘An Mhi’, and take an extra dose of tranquilising medication.
