Carbon tax . . . Inquiry . . . Pay cuts . . . Gritting

Regarding the lack of funding available to local authorities for gritting of roads, I suggest the Government allocate some of the monies it is collecting from the so-called 'carbon taxes' to such a purpose, while we wait for global warming to kick in.

  • Like Des Groome of the Kildare Chamber of Commerce (Letters, January 4), I too want to see those responsible for the banking sector's actions held accountable. However, Mr Groome seems happy with the old Irish way of another talk-talk inquiry show for those who may have committed crimes.


It seems inconceivable under the present Government that the Department of Justice will bring criminal charges against Ireland's white-collar criminals.
