Capping pay is a matter of honour
THOSE who question the Fine Gael proposal to cap public sector salaries at €200,000 are assessing it from the wrong angle.
In Washington DC people give up massive earning potential in the private sector for the honour of serving in a White House administration, and they do so out of a motivation to see their country prosper. The same applies to other EU capitals.
So it is not true that you have to pay top dollar to get motivated, innovative, professionals working in the public sector (Letters, November 12).
