Call to keep RTE medium wave
In many parts of the North, especially in Belfast and rural areas, the transmission signal for RTE FM is very weak.
The decision to axe RTE MW will means thousands of people will be denied access to RTE radio.
RTE has stated that they chose to promote the LW service rather than MW because it offers better coverage in the North. The reality is many people do not have access to LW on their radios.
It is essential that any decision is postponed until the RTE FM signal is strengthened and available across the North.
I would urge loyal listeners to RTE to write to the RTE Director General and Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Eamon Ryan to challenge this decision.
