Bullying attacks on judge bode ill

THE personal attacks by Denis O'Brien, Michael Lowry and Ben Dunne against the integrity of Mr Justice Moriarty and his legal team -- because they judged against them -- bodes ill for the body politic.

Disputes arise in all walks of life and we need referees to make judgments on these disputes. It is not acceptable to attack the integrity of the referee when a judgment goes against one.

Rather than bring the total process into disrepute by personal attacks, there is normally a higher body to which a person can appeal if they feel aggrieved.
