Bring an end to the State's gravy train

Fine Gael and Labour expect to form our next government. They could greatly boost their chances of being elected by a sincere promise to take a hatchet to top echelon salaries when elected.

By being prepared to work for realistic salaries and making top people in semi-state bodies, top academics, top civil servants et al do likewise, they would demonstrate their intention of permanently derailing the gravy train.

This would not only save millions but would show the electorate they mean business.
