Branching out with state-run forests

Denis Hayes says that the Programme for Government includes a proposal to sell our national forests for "short-term financial gain" (Letters, March 21).

No such proposal has been put forward by the new Government.

In fact, they have promised to do the very opposite by implementing an afforestation programme that will yield an additional 14,000 hectares of state-owned forests per annum.
