Bono is no Kevin Myers or Yeats

I SAW Michael McDowell's interesting RTE programme last week on Michael Collins, proposing him as one of the five greatest Irish people ever.
Two of the others are also worthy candidates, John Hume and James Connolly.
But I really can't see putting Mary Robinson anywhere near the top five -- remember the episode of the cleaning ladies in the Aras, her discomfiture with being called "Mary" by the plain people of Ireland, her referring to her husband, Nick, as her "consort" and her pledge to the people of Ireland to serve a full seven-year term?
