Bogus claims on climate change

Saturday October 03 2009

In reply to Gary Byrne ('Polar opposite view on climate', Letters, October 1), I hate to be the one to shatter his delusions, but if he cares to look into recent reports on ice cap shrinkage, he may be surprised to find that the Arctic and Antarctic ice caps have been expanding for some time.

TV pictures showing ice melting and breaking off in huge sheets in these regions is simply a natural consequence of that aspect of "climate change" called summer time. In the polar opposite aspect of "climate change", we get winter when the ice caps reform.

Of course, we have also been shown the pictures of apparently "stranded" polar bears on ice floes and we are led to believe, I stress the word "led", that polar bears can't swim. This is another completely bogus suggestion for the gullible.

Mr Byrne's "evidence" is simply a parroting of mainstream media lies and scare stories put out by the vested interests of the ilk of Al Gore, who stands to make billions of dollars through his carbon trading company Generation Investment Management. That is an easily provable fact.

As I said in my previous letter, I can provide as many articles "proving" my point of view as anyone can for theirs, but a simple look out of the window 365 days of the year is the best evidence I have; and I see it getting cooler and wetter.

There is no scientific basis to blame man for climate change.

There is no link between global warming due to carbon dioxide emissions either -- unless you believe so-called scientists who simply prostitute themselves to vested interest groups and governments.

When these bogus fanatics use computer models instead of facts to get the results they want to justify their huge salaries and continued funding, we should be very sceptical.

Look up in the sky now and again, you might notice something, it's called 'the sun' and it's been controlling climate change as long as this planet has existed.

Athens burns as politicians vote

The historic vote paves the way for Greece's European partners and the International Monetary Fund to release 170 billion euro in new rescue loans, without which Greece would default on its mountain of debt next month and likely leave the eurozone - a scenario that would further unsettle global markets. Politicians voted 199-74 in favour of the cutbacks, despite strong dissent among the two main coalition members.
