Bob, Dora and Thomas
Sir -- Sarah Caden's article (Life, Sunday Independent, February 28), struck a chord with me. When our daughter was two to three years old, she was totally into Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine.
When buying new pyjamas, she insisted on those of Bob but, guess what, only available in navy. Our daughter loved her pjs until she was about four, when Dora the Explorer became the heroine. Now she's almost seven and her clothing choices range from girly dresses to jeans and T-shirts, but not a huge amount of pink. Disney Princesses and High School Musical have made an appearance on lunchboxes, rucksacks and in her wardrobe, along with clothes passed on from relations and friends. She's not really into her clothes but we await the years to come.
However, recently her baby sister was taken for a boy because she was dressed in jeans and a brown hoodie (with flower motif). Here we go again.
