Blasphemy has no place in paper

I was most disappointed to be confronted by a speech bubble beside the scowling features of Ian O'Doherty (Irish Independent, March 15) which read: "Jesus Christ, how could you let me sink that low? Right, I'm into rehab immediately. Get me Mel Gibson on speed dial..."

It is blasphemous and, I am sure, as upsetting to a lot of your readers as it was to me.

Is it now editorial policy to include that kind of language in articles? I suggest that it is demeaning and unworthy of a paper such as yours. No doubt Mr O'Doherty will take some kind of pleasure from upsetting people like me by using that kind of language.
