Blame where blame is due

In no way? Hang on. If enforcement is the remit of the gardai, how can they be in no way to blame?
The Gardai are not totally to blame, but certainly they have to take a certain amount of responsibility. This is classic Conor talk, saying something but saying nothing.
Meanwhile, we have a road safety advertisement which uses the same soundtrack that RTE used for their Formula One coverage for years. Last Christmas, a road safety advertisment was followed by an ad for "Cool, crisp Budweiser". What a joke.
I think Gaybo is completely right when he says that we did not get to where we are overnight, and we will not pull back from the terrible carnage overnight either.
The ugly truth is that it is time we took a long hard look at how we advertise cars in this country, along with everything else. What are we pushing as a model of superiority and sophistication? Newer cars and speed. ANTHONY HALPIN, ASHTON WOOD, HERBERT ROAD, BRAY, CO WICKLOW
