Blame Kilkenny
• Enda Kenny's justified criticism of the Irish people as a whole is certainly bracing in these times of economic gloom. I personally wouldn't entrust them with a referendum. They have already got the answer wrong twice and we can hardly hope that they will strike it lucky on a third occasion.
But I think that his eloquent criticisms would gain even greater force and credibility from being more specific.
Thus I suggest that we blame Tallaght. I gather double pensions are thin on the ground in those benighted parts.
Above all, I blame the Kilkenny hurlers. They have left the rest of the 32 counties dismayed and demoralised for the past 10 years.
