Bertie, tax is not for small people

On the day that we read that senior civil servants are to have their pay reduced by much less than ordinary civil servants (Irish Independent, January 6), we also read that Bertie Ahern does not have to pay any tax on his approximately €100,000 advance for his book.
Proof, if it were needed, that it is the small people who carry the burden in this economy. The statement by Brian Lenihan, that "everyone will have to pay their fair share" was downright dishonest.
Politicians should learn from history and in particular, what happened at the Bastille in France.
