Banking inquiry will go ahead

Once again David McWilliams is able to offer us a different opinion and option regarding our woes than those commentators steeped in the insider mantra of "there is no other way" and "we are where we are" ('Iceland shows importance of putting people before banks', Irish Independent, January 6).
Why would the idea of a Dail commission to investigate the banking crash be given such a lukewarm reception by those who could fast-track such an inquiry?
You only have to look at the diminution of pay cuts for those in the upper echelons of this out-of-balance autocracy to see how this country operates.
