Bad refereeing brings game into disrepute

I AM 71 years old and have followed and played football and hurling throughout my life, but in recent years the standard of refereeing has steadily gone down and as a result I am of the opinion that the game has fallen into disrepute.
I have observed some terrible decisions and have seen children coming off the field both crying and angry as a result of bad decisions made by referees. This is sending all the wrong messages to these children, and will eventually put them off playing Gaelic games.
Bad refereeing is systemic, and of course there are also political/financial decisions, especially when more senior games are being played.
