Bad advice on sex not good for teens

Madam – Great credit to Fine Gael TD Michelle Mulherin, for her alertness and courageous action regards Spunout.ie – the website of a state funded youth organisation (Sunday Independent, March 24, 2013).

The latest on the website is advice to teenagers on how to select partners for no-strings-attached sex for "threesomes", to inject serious passion and real pleasure into their bedroom shenanigans. A spokesperson for the organisation, Ian Power, said: "The fact is that sex is enjoyable for young people and for some, 'threesomes' are just one aspect of being sexually intimate". "This information has been available since 2005 and is regularly reviewed by the HSE, which provides a quarter of its funding"– added Mr Power.

The website is lavish and the organisation boasts of giving factual information and providing proper health information on such issues as Aids and other STDs. People as young as 16 are advised they should "establish sexual ground rules".
