Auxiliary bishops not needed

AN auxiliary bishop, as the title suggests, is just a helper and has no authority, but works directly under his bishop or archbishop.
About 40 years ago, Rome said there would be no more of them ordained but then bishops of dioceses went crying and begging and the Vatican capitulated.
There is no need for auxiliary bishops. Priests adminsiter the sacrament of confirmation, so a bishop is not absolutely necessary. And if confirmation were celebrated when it should be, BEFORE first Eucharist and not after, it would definitely make auxiliaries redundant.
