Assessment system open to manipulation

I AGREE with Justin Kelly that the Leaving Certificate system "has many flaws" (Letters, August 8), but I think the continuous assessment system he has proposed has more fundamental faults.
The current system has many advantages. It is fair to all and not subjective; it is independent and anonymous.
It is, therefore, immune to manipulation. It requires diligence and hard work on behalf of the student to be successful.
