Aras race just dirty campaign

Sir -- The race to the Aras has turned into nothing more than a farcical, point-scoring, dirty campaign. Each candidate has been splashed across the front page of tabloids, from Norris's now infamous letters to Dana's family affairs. All this negative energy is diminishing the status and integrity of the highest office in the land. It is shameful.
The question is, who is to blame? Are the candidates not up to a high enough level? Is the media pre-occupied with derogatory headlines? Or are we, as a nation, over-obsessed with our own problems, feeling the need to bring the candidates to our level?
Arguably, there are too many candidates and this makes it hard for them all to voice their beliefs in debates, and creates pointless bickering. It is juvenile and every debate further devalues the role of President.
