The Irish people in general have no real political passion for real change. Recently about 50,000 people turned up at Merrion Square to passionately cheer the Dubs for winning the All Ireland football final. Try and get 50 people to turn up to that same square to protest for the 450,000 unemployed!
The politicians are obviously well aware of the public's lethargy. If the Irish public was more virile then the parish pump parochial mind would never have controlled the country in the first place.
