Another can of worms opened

The report of the Comptroller & Auditor General (Irish Independent, September 16) reveals that the Government passed over a much cheaper bid and opted to hand a very lucrative contract to build and run the Spencer Dock Convention Centre to a developer who had loans worth more than €1bn moved to the National Asset Management Agency.

No doubt, in time, Dubliners will give a suitable descriptive name to the unusual construction that has materialised in their city. Given its shape, and in light of the revelations, I suggest 'Another Can of Worms' might be appropriate.
