Analysis of Lillis trial

Sir -- First, I wish to state that I never write to any newspaper regarding stories. I am no expert and do not claim to be.

I would like to commend Jody Corcoran's analysis article "Downfall of a dreamer" (Sunday Independent, Jan. 31, 2010), about the Eamonn Lillis trial. To most of us there is nearly a pre-trial in our heads of the outcome. The in-depth observations and comment by Jody are the main points I am trying to make. I wish that such an article could be used to try to teach students that it is not just how they write, but what other angles are to be seen and commented upon.

This analysis is not just journalistic summing up but a level of human observation normally seen in trained professional crime specialists etc. This case was far more than what happened in the last few minutes of Celine's life. My respects and condolences to her family.
