An extremely fishy law

• When certain highly moral and law-abiding fishermen landed an over-quota catch of monkfish and proceeded to distribute it to local people at Kilmore Quay, Co Wexford, last week, they pointed straight at one of the most nefarious practices within EU law.

What sort of criminal law demands that good food be disposed of, by returning it to the ocean, when children in Ireland are going to bed without supper and to school without breakfast?

And when children are starving to death in many parts of the world?
