Charles McLaughlin (Letters, October 22) makes a valid comparison between the UK health service and ours.
Why are hospital consultants paid €1,000 per week and then allowed to spend much of their time treating their own patients?
I started to read the excellent book by Shane Ross, 'Wasters', on such subjects but have stopped reading it as it's depressing me learning about failure after failure of all these people on high salaries who can't manage anything.
