AIDS . . . Flights . . . Gardai . . . Mugs . . . Knock

I READ a report recently about how a German woman has been accused of causing bodily harm by having unprotected sex while knowing she was HIV-positive. The headline was 'Woman accused of assault with AIDS'. AIDS and HIV are very distinct illnesses. The incorrect use of 'HIV' and 'AIDS' encourages stereotypes and creates confusion in the public's understanding of these illnesses.
- TO those ministers who are hopping on and off our aircraft as if they were on some sort of tour of Ireland, may I remind them that Queen Sofia of Spain (population 46 million and an air force of some 480 aircraft) took a Ryanair flight from Santander to London in 2009. Micheal Martin should go online and see that fares between Dublin and Cork can be bought for less than €10, without baggage, that is.
