Ahern comments are an insult

Published 24/07/2010 | 05:00

Personally I am outraged and astonished to read that the Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern is suggesting people start spending instead of saving. And may I ask, what planet is he living on with the suggestion the recession has bottomed out?

Firstly, I would consider those remarks somewhat offensive to those on unemployment benefits and trying to keep up payments on negative equity.

Yes, the same people whose incomes have been cut to bail out the banks are struggling to make ends meet on a daily basis. Try telling them the recession is over, but then again just like the rest of our parliamentarians, this minister wouldn't have experience or understanding of the effects of this recession with his salary.
