Abuse . . . Disaster . . . Programming . . . Cheaters

Tuesday November 24 2009

  • It is nothing short of a disgrace that the Dublin Report has not been published. As child victims we never counted for much. I would like to think that now we might be shown some respect.

As chairperson of the Templemore Forgotten Victims, I demand that these further wrongs be put right at any cost.

  • If the Dodder had burst its banks, RTE would have being declaring a national disaster. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is under water. Will we have another Minister for Snow next time a few flakes hit Ballsbridge?

  • What have 'The All-Ireland Talent Show', 'Val Falvey' and 'Fair City' got in common? They are all rubbish on RTE1 primetime. Meanwhile, at 1.30am, a fine programme called 'Six Days in June' is on, highlighting the hostility between Israel and Palestine. No wonder people complain about the national broadcaster.

  • Would the Irish public please stop griping about Thierry Henry's hand ball. You feel hard done by, but Ireland still hadn't won the play-off. In all probability France would have won the penalty shootout, if it got that far.

I must ask, why is it that defenders can pull the shirts of attackers to stop them scoring but it is not considered cheating? Why is it defenders can push, shove and manhandle attackers at corners and free kicks and it is not considered cheating?

Apparently there was only one cheat at the game, and he was French. Have another look at the video of the game: Dunne and Co left their fingerprints on every square inch of the French shirts, but at that end of the field it's not considered cheating.
