A patriot's lesson for youth of FG

The reaction by young members of Fine Gael to the invitation extended to Brian Lenihan to give the oration on the 88th anniversary of the death of Michael Collins at Beal na mBlath is very disappointing.
I knew men who fought alongside him, and against him, and like General Collins they would be appalled that young Irishmen and women this far removed from the events could behave in this manner.
Collins forgave and forgot personal attacks. On the day he died, his last words to Captain Sean McCarthy in Rosscarbery were: "I'm going to put an end to this bloody war as soon as possible."
