A lack of careers expertise at FAS

Mary Coughlan is now able to attend the proposed conference with career counsellors in the US.
Given her portfolio as Minister for Education and Skills with specific responsibility for FAS, perhaps she should instead focus attention on one glaring domestic oversight: less than 1pc of the current cohort of FAS employment service officers are qualified career guidance counsellors.
Many are merely educated to Leaving Certificate level, although some are not, and have not availed of their continuous professional development to study and attain the relevant qualifications acceptable to the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, Ireland.
