A helping hand

• I have lived in Canada for almost three years. I am always reading of young people taking their own lives back home in Ireland and it breaks my heart. There is a serious need for a mental health course to be taught in our schools from the age of 10 upwards.

Ireland is now a very bleak place for young people to grow up. Times are tough and the weather can always bring people down. Added to this is the fact that all we hear in Ireland is doom and gloom and you can see why a lot of people see no future.

Because of this, it is vital that young people and their parents are educated as to good ways to keep one's mind and body positive.
