A farewell to European democracy

•Greece, almost immediately followed by Italy, hastily abandoned democracy without warning, without pause for thought and almost certainly at the behest of the recently reformed 'Franco-German Recession Connection'.
The latter deposed a Caesar and shuffled a socialist pawn off the board in favour of more reliable centurions and more favourable oracles.
In the space of 48 hours, the political landscape of Europe was smashed by a furious hurricane, twisting, shaking, dismantling and grotesquely reforming the terrain without recourse to the wants of the people.
