A blind eye and a deaf ear shown to the stay-at-home-mother

Paschal Donohoe's Budget mantra 'The centre can hold' is nonsense of the highest order. The centre cannot and will not hold, because, once again our elected representatives have struck another blow at that 'centre' at the very heart of society - the family with a stay-at-home mother.

They have failed to respect the critical importance to the future sustainability of our society, of the family with a stay-at-home mother. They have chosen to pay €900 for childcare outside the home as against €100 for mother (or father) who cares for a child at home.

What an injustice! What blatant discrimination! For decades, experts in the field of childcare have acknowledged the value of the work of the stay-at-home mother.
