Harris, give the Taoiseach a break

Madam – Last Sunday Eoghan Harris (Sunday Independent, April 13, 2014) gave us a very good nuanced column about the presidential visit to Britain. Given his sometimes faint praise of Higgins, Mr Harris goes on gently to remind him of the things he might have said – especially in Coventry where the IRA exported death in the Thirties; IRA support for Nazi Germany, with whom Britain was locked in mortal combat during the Second World War for the preservation of civilisation; or the activities of Sean Russell.
