Letters: Enda was right to look worried this time last year
* I remember this time last year writing a letter in which I wished our Taoiseach and the people of our nation all the best for Christmas. It was inspired by what I thought was a worried look on our Taoiseach's face.
When one considers or reviews what has happened in the interim, then he did indeed have reason to worry.
The horse-meat scandal was about to break, the Anglo Tapes were about to be published, Coillte was going to be sold, the deficit was demanding a never-ending austerity cycle and we were about to see another late night of shennanigans in the Dail. We were awaiting the secret top-up scandal and in general Ireland was going to maintain its wonderful trajectory of confused corruption.
