Gwynnie puts her finger on a woman's plight
Even Gwyneth Paltrow doesn't think she's attractive - and that says a lot about women's self-confidence, writes Sophie Donaldson
It's not often people agree with Gwyneth Paltrow: it's far easier to mock her. Born into a well-connected Hollywood family and the god-daughter of Steven Spielberg, her acting career has given her an incredibly affluent and unrelatable existence.
She dated the likes of Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck before marrying, and then 'consciously uncoupling', a rock star. There were the, let us say, unusual baby names - Apple and Moses - that inspired a host of bad jokes asking if she had gone bananas, or was she just a total fruit loop?
And then, in the depths of the economic recession, she launched goop.com, a lifestyle website that offers such ludicrous fripperies as nut-milk makers and organic sex oil. Was she trying to make us hate her?
