Where there is a will...

DOES the Taoiseach understand how defensive and ineffectual he sounded when telling the Dail that, because of a contract between Aer Lingus and Dublin Airport Authority, the Government's hands are tied and an offer to create 300 jobs must be rejected?

Perhaps a snarling 'new' opposition leader made Mr Cowen and his Government appear more inadequate than they are, but the Taoiseach's protests that he would not be forced to "break the law" did not convince.

Being himself (as he promised he would last week), Enda Kenny made the very valid point that the Government owns 100pc of DAA and 25pc of Aer Lingus and that it is therefore hard to see how a deal could not be reached to free up the huge, empty Hangar 6.
