We must reclaim our public places from evil
CRIMINALS have grown so brazen that we have almost become accustomed to acts of extreme violence. But the incident in Corduff Park in west Dublin yesterday was exceptional.
Two men shot three others, seriously injuring them. This in broad daylight, in a public place frequented by mothers and children. A shocking event. But will it give us more than a momentary shock?
On other occasions, shots have been fired through doors and windows, killing and injuring innocents. There have been cases of mistaken identity and murders of potential witnesses. Each time, there were outbursts of indignation. They always died down.
