Wanton culture at the tribunal

Any day now, after many false alarms, the Mahon Tribunal will produce its final report. Seldom has the publication of any document aroused so much expectation; and seldom has any inquiry given rise to so much controversy.
Not only the political and media world, but citizens as a whole, are eager to read the tribunal's judgment on the evidence given to it by Bertie Ahern.
Whatever opinion they may have formed during the tribunal proceedings, the report must influence their long-term view. Indeed, it will affect not only the opinions of those who read it now and later, but the verdict of future historians.
