Wallace plumbs new depths of hypocrisy

Deputy Mick Wallace's call on workers to pay more taxes marks a new depth of hypocrisy from the Wexford TD. Speaking in the Dail yesterday Mr Wallace said that: "One of the few promises the Government has kept is that it has not touched income tax. Perhaps it should consider breaking that promise and increase the tax rate for higher earners."

Could this possibly be the same Deputy Mick Wallace who has refused for the third week running to provide a full explanation for the €2.1m tax settlement between his construction company and the Revenue Commissioners?

Despite bearing a very close resemblance to the resident of a glass house throwing stones, Deputy Wallace also had the gall to criticise the decision by the government to break the €200,000 cap on public sector salaries for the new VHI chief executive John O'Dwyer.
