Two-tier system is real scandal
THE Tallaght Hospital scandal is a riddle wrapped in an enigma. The riddle is how such a massive dereliction of duty could have occurred. The enigma is the HSE.
According to the Tanaiste, further clues have yet to emerge.
What we know for certain is that some 58,000 X-rays were never read by a consultant radiologist at the hospital over a five-year period, leading to delayed diagnoses for two patients, one of whom has since died while a second is undergoing cancer treatment.
