Time to board that 'Brexit special' train

Most people know that Britain's exit from the European Union carries many threats for this country's economic well-being. And most of us know "something must be done" to prepare for this potential crisis.

But specific and practical solutions have been in short supply. So, a proposal from Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan is well worth considering.

He has indicated that Ireland will seek EU funding for a special high-speed Dublin-Belfast rail link. Mr Flanagan has also indicated that Ireland will seek similar support for developing Irish ports to allow for more direct links and more diverse trade with mainland Europe.
